Connecting Mandrake to my Win 98 box

I've seen some pic's that some members have posted that they can connect Linux to the Windows network and share files etc.

Could someone tell me how to set up Linux to connect to my main PC (running Win98).

Do I need a utility or program to do this?

Samba is the SMB networking of Linux that allows you to share files on a Windows box and vice versa.

Try this if you have a public share on your Win98 box and the GUI running on your Linux. In the browser, type:

SMB://<ip of Win98>/<share name>

If that works, Samba is already installed and you just need to tweak it.
