Cant open certain pages..cant dl anything??
A friend of mine is telling me he is having a problem where he goes to read newspapers online...he can go to the page etc but he cant open any of the articles....something like that, lol.
He is also saying he cant download anything
he said he was using firefox but he uninstalled that thinking it was the problem but it wasnt.
He also tried using Xp system restore function to no avail.
Any ideas before I go look at it?
Thanks, JP"Even a fool is thought to be wise if he is silent"

believe it or not...it was some weird thing with Mozilla Firefox
well, that and some spyware. He had been running his AVG but not running Adaware checks etc
so I am not sure what the spyware contributed to the problem.
But as far as the Outlook express...he had emails from, for instance, newsmax...but the links inside the emails didnt work all of a sudden.
He said AVg had detected 6 viruses a day or so b4 the problem started.
So his Firefox was also down or something...it wouldnt open. So I did an Xp restore. I downloaded Firefox 2....walla, all of a sudden the outlook xpress links worked just fine, lol
oh yeah, I removed the 741 instances of spyware also"Even a fool is thought to be wise if he is silent"

Do thse happen to be javascript links that aren't functioning? I had a problem with a clients computer that would not respond to any javascript links. I checked his IE options and they were all set correctly. Whatever little spyware he had I cleaned off. In the end, I had to do a repair install and everything worked again.

This exact problem happened to me once. I couldn't even copy and paste from the browser. I closed the browser and ended all instances of firefox. Restarted the browser and it was fine lol.
That doesn't help this topic at all but I thought it was worth mentioning.I7 930i on ASUS Sabertooth X58
