| internet suddenly stopped working....
ok, before yesterday my internet worked fine. When i booted up my PC yesterday morning it just stopped working over night
It works on two other PCs at home so i know its not the network or router. I also noticed that when I unplug the cable and plug it back in it takes about 1-2min to "Aquire a network address". Usually it took much shorter...
What could be the problem? Its quite annoying!

have you tried different ports?
When it does get a address does it work?
Have you rebooted your router? |

Sounds like your NIC is timing out on acquiring a valid IP scheme from your router.
Like GZ3 said - try rebooting your router (power off - power on). Then either reboot your PC or use
ipconfig /renew
from a command line

do you have internet if you go from modem directly to the computer, I would check for firmware updates for the router, see if that helps. Maybe it is time for a new router.

Are your LAN computers receiving a valid IP address (use 'ipconfig' from a command line)?
If not, assign one of your LAN systems a static IP and see if it will talk to the router. If it does, check your DHCP settings on the router - make sure that DHCP is enabled. If not, then there may be a router issue.
Does your LAN go directly to your router or is there a switch inbetween? Also, on the router - can you specifiy the model # and are all of the led lights solid or blinking? |
