My main router is an alcatel speedtouch pro (excellent piece of equipment) with ip address 10.0.0.138, subnet mask 255.0.0.0 It issues ip addresses in the 10.0.0.2 to 10.255.255.254 range.
I just bought a Linksys wrt54gc wireless router/switch.
It has the typical Linksys settings 192.168.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
It is hooked up through its internet port to the speedtouch.
If I leave it's dhcp server active, computers hooked up to it get onto the internet just fine. However, computers hooked up to the Linksys dont see computers hooked up to the speedtouch.
If I disable the linksys dhcp server, computers hooked up to it no longer get assigned an ip address and fail to connect to anything.
Questions:
Is there a way to "dumb down" the Linksys so that it becomes transparent is if it were a normal wireless access point/switch allowing computers hooked up to it to acquire adresses from the speedtouch?
Would harmonizing the address ranges/subnet masks allow the computers hooked up to the linksys to see the ones hooked up to the speedtouch?
(I noticed that the Linksys seems to be quite inflexible when it comes to changing address ranges, but the speedtouch should be able to do so!)
