| Using cellphone antenna booster for internal wifi?
Hey, I just got one of those cell phone antenna booster sticker things for my phone, and the thing came with two boosters.
I was thinkin, if it works well (which it does) for my phone, could i stick it on my internal wifi card in my laptop and get a similar effect? would it hurt?

Cellular booster stickies are not even connected to the RF stage of your phone, less long even hope to be properly tuned for the operating frequencies involved. http://www.andybrain.com/extras/cell...w-and-test.htm
A cellular booster sticky could (in theory) increase your displayed signal bar rating by creating enough interference (note the keyword, interference!) to force the phone and connecting cell site to higher wattages. You might get a tiny signal gain increase, but the interference is also offsetting that gain through increased signal noise, thus there is no real benefit unless you count increased battery consumption as a positive aspect.
As for WiFi, it is an entirely different RF spectrum. If you want to extend WiFi range, invest in a higher gain antenna, preferably directional if you are dealing with a fixed-point installation.

So how does it work? I tried it and saw an increased number of wireless networks. So what am I actually seeing? |

How is it wishful thinking when it listed the networks and gave their SSID? All I'm asking for is a technical explanation of why this is happening, when it isn't supposed to work. |
