Adva Optical 150 to Cisco Layer 3 switch

Hey folks,

Im new to the board so I just want to first say hello and tell a little about myself. Im 35 and working in the Northern Va DC area. I was a Tech Controller in the Airforce for 8 years the a Dial Access installer for 3 years at UUNET followed by Network eng at Qwest for 5. I am now at a small company that does work for the Gov.

I have some new gear I know very little about. It's the Adva Optical FSP 150. I need to set up a ring of 2 FSP 150 MGs and 3 MEs to several Cisco 65xx switches. Im having a heck of a time getting the Ciscos to talk through the Adva gear. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff or suggestions?

Im am terribly rushed for time to make this stuff work and Im tired of banging my head against the wall. I have contacted Adva but there has been little help there (although those guys are great the ones I talk to dont know Cisco) and we do not have a contract with Cisco so I can not call them..... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
John

Hrm im not sure about others experience but you might want to head over to http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servl...Prof?page=main to get some help. Dslreports.com has a cisco section with some very knowledgeable Cisco users also you might try out

theres a ring setup.

2 fsp 150MGs one is active and one is passive in tandem mode. Then there are 3 fsp 150 MEs that attach to the various cisco boxes. I think at this point its a V-lan issue as the adva gear assigns a vlan to each port based on where its at in the network but I have no idea how to set the cisco up for that. ie... if the second fsp 150 me is attached to the mg acces port 1 and the cisco box is hanging off the MEs access port 1 the Adva gear assigns that access port an vlan id of 1.1.1 in hex... hard to explain here..
