How to prevent the uploading? any trick?

    Hi friends,
I subscribed to a new internet connection that used a WAN mini port dialler (builtin windows dialer). the download speed goes upto 215kb many times.
It is a 10GB per month account. They count the download as well as upload data also. And infact they are providing a greater upload speed (might be their trick to consume maximum bytes of the costumer).
So please tell me some trick to limit the upload packet sending speed to minumum yet periodically switch back to normal whenever I want to upload something.
Is it possible to do this without affecting the download speed?
    see you, good wishes, Ketan.

In order to download you must upload. The faster you download the more upload you will need so you can reply with ack. packs so the host sends more info. The upload for 215K is probably 10K or so I think. I am not sure how to limit your upload overall but im sure someone around here will have an idea.

    Hallo Phenious,
Ok thank you for telling. So if I limit the upload speed in anyway, it is going to affect the download speed also.
I thought there might be some tweaking.
    thanks Ketan.

cfosspeed does wonders ,I suggest you get it.

Well you might be able to do some settings in there, but that prob won't help in what you wish to accomplish.

    Explain the things you download.

Do you mean downloading things through some sort of p2p program? (Bittorent, shareaza, ect...)? If so, then you can limit the upload, or completly disable it.

If its just surfing websites, checking email, or downloading files from websites (direct download) then you shouldn't need to mess with the upload as so little of your upload bandwidth is used, its minuscule.

    hi quickoldcar Bizkitkid2001

    Hallo,
quickoldcar, thanks I am will try the software, but there is not such a great problem for the net in order to buy the software for it.. but still I will try if I can get the demo version.
Bizkitkid2001, yes I am talking about the direct website and downloading. Ok I won't try to change any of that setting, as phenius also said that the upload helps the download to perform.
    see you, thanks.
    Ketan.
