| Verizon FIOS Actiontec MI424WR Router
I switched from Verizon DSL to Verizon FIOS. Now I cannot access my workgroup PC's or my IP Printer. Everything worked fine on DSL with my Linksys Router. Now I have the FIOS Actiontec MI424WR Router and the workgroup PC's cannot even ping each other. ALL WORKED FINE WITH THE LINKSYS. Nothing has changed except going from DSL with a Linksys to FIOS with the MI424WR.
Any ideas on how to make the Actiontec MI424WR allow the PC's to access each other? |

The home network configuration is on page 19 of the manual. Why don't you take a look at that and the "My network" icon on the configuration page and tell us what doesn't look right?
A few basics:
1. Are all devices set to obtain an IP address automatically?
2. Did you shut everything down, plug them in and shart up one at a time? |

| Issues Resolved.
I found the problem - Norton Firewall had the old linksys MAC Address cached as the trusted network. I removed the Linksys MAC and added the new gateway address and it cached the new MAC address. All is well and I'm back up and sharing.
I did need to release the MAC Address on each machine, since they are all running norton firewall. For the IP based Printer, all I did was reboot. |

| Same Issue but no solution! Help.
I too had DSL with Verizon. Network worked great. Switched to FIOS with Verizon, no network!
I have even turned off the firewalls to see if that is the issue, no such luck. Even tried assigning an IP address in the Win98 network settings instead of automatic assignment (the one that the router assigns) and that works, but then I loose the connection to the internet in 98 SE. My Dell is XP connecting to a Compaq 98SE.
Any suggestions? Tried tech. They say they don't support 98SE. |

One other wierd thing: If I go into the router and click on "My Network", I can click on the "Access Shared Files" link in the center column. Also, my Dell is the first computer listed, then my Compaq (but with the 192..... address, not the name(?) and the "IP Address Allocation" that reads "DHCP" for the Dell is Blank for the Compaq. Does this give a clue? I can run (with \\ then the ip addresses) in the start/run box and access either computer's files by using their ip addresses. Any ideas?? |
