Router issues...

Im using a Linksys WRT54GX4 and recently the router has been telling me that I am connected to the internet but I'm not.

If I unplug the cable from the router and hook it up directly into the computer it works fine.

Ive tried hard resets, soft resets, different cables, nothing seems to get the router connected to the internet.

Does anyone know of any solutions to this problem?

Does the router actually show that you are pulling down an valid IP from your provider? PPOE or cable ISP? Is router DHCP set to ON? Did you reboot the modem and the router after you introduced the router to the lan?
Cable from Modem connected to the correct router port? Try a different cable from router to pc.....

The router and everything has been reset and the cables have been interchanged. The router itself isn't pulling an IP from my ISP.

If I look under the status screen of the router it says that it is disconnected from the internet. DHCP is on as well.

For some reason the router acknowledging that the internet is active.

Send a message via AIM to sr71000
unplug your modem and router and shut down your computer. hook a network cable from the modem to the wan port on your router. Plug the modem power in (make sure it was off for at least 30 seconds). When it is done initializing (the lights go normal) then plug in your router. When that is done, start up the computer and see if that works.

If not, what kind of internet do you have? dsl or cable?

I havent tried that approach yet but to answer your question on what kind of internet I have is that its cable from my school. I'm living in an apartment complex who's internet is done through the school. Our school uses Comcast.
