    Wireless router suddenly stopped working

    Hi All,

Recently my wireless internet connection suddenly stopped working properly. Its either REALLY slow or jus doesnt connect

Ive got a Netgear DG384G router and Belkin 54g wireless adapter.

I tried connecting through wired connection and its perfectly fine. I tried doing antivirus, spyware check and also reinstalled the wireless adapters but they dont work. The same problem happened on my other PC with the same wireless adapter so Im thinking it could be a problem with the actual router?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Have you tried the reset button of it. Sounds like you do have a bad one though. Try replacing the cord and plugging it into another jack on the router. Last night I had a jack go bad on my router, who would have thought.

yep i ried resetting it, nothing happened.

The wired connection works no problem, im using that right now to access the net. Even the wireless signal light is on green, but just both this PC and my other PC cant connect to it (which makes me think its the actual router as whats the chances of both wireless adapters failing together, although they are both Belkin!)

any other ideas apart from replacing router and adapters

Are you using the USB type adapter? If so, then try a PCI card type. They usually run a lot better, in my experience.
The USB type also seem very finicky when it comes to positioning them for the best signal. If it is that type, then try moving it around a bit. Keep it as high as possible and away from the PC and monitor as far as possible. Steel computer furniture is also a signal killer. Try an alternative wireless channel number too. I know you have a green icon, but those only show signal strength, when signal noise or channel clashes with another persons wireless signal can make more difference.

yep im using USB adapter, I had PCI netgear ones but they messed up.

Actually it could be the channel, but would that cause the entire wireless to go down completely?
It could be the channel because both my adapters were workin great and then at the same time they both stopped.

Does anyone else have the Belkin Wireless G USB network adapter? Are there any specific options I need to setup after installin the drivers?
