IP conflict..
Ok so I'm trying to connect my Xbox and my computer and I've found out about the free way to do it, I know exactly how to do it but there is one problem- when I set it up I get a message saying:
"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. ICS cannot be enabled due to an IP address conflict on the network. ICS requries the host to be configured to use 192.168.0.1. Please ensure that no other client on the network is configured to use 192.168.0.1."
What I am going is going to network connections > right clicking on my connection > properties > advanced > allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection.
So I want to be able to get Xbox live but when I try to set it up I get the message about conflicting IP addresses pop up on my PC, what can I do to resolve this?
Thanks.

Another solution
Just in case someone stumbles onto this searching for a solution, try my steps.
1st, I disconnected my computer from my wireless network. Then, I went back to the advanced properties for my wireless card. I was then able to enable ICS.
I connected the PC back to my wireless network. I turned on the XBox 360 and this disconnected me from the network. This should happen because there is still an ip conflict, but we can work around it now. Now that ICS is enabled, you can change to Internet protocol properties for the ethernet card. 192.168.0.1 is needed by the router. This is the conflict. Change your ip manually for the ethernet card (NOT THE WIRELESS CARD) to 192.168.1.1. Click OK, close out, and you should now be connected to the wireless network again.
Now go to the 360 dashboard and change your IP and DNS settings manually.
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Secondary DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
Test your XBox Live, and if you had the same problem I did, it should work now.

I'm trying to connect my Xbox to Live wirelessly. I already have one other Xbox connected Via ethernet cable to my Linksys WRT54G version 8 router, and that's all thats connected to it, other than of course this computer. Ive already spent 5 & 1/2 hours today on the Linksys live help chat, and i literally exercised every possible option they had, to no avail. My xbox finds the router no problem, but when i try to connect it says Failed beside the IP address in the Xbox Live Connectivity test. Im in Canada, and i Use MTS Allstream DSL internet, I run Windows XP. Im all out of options, what should i do?

Hi, and WELCOME TO TECHIMO..!
First off, I don't think the issue/s you're having are anything to do with your location, ISP or anything else other than your LAN (internal network).
With just the above info, I would hazard a guess that it could be that the wireless network (WLAN) you have is likely to be blocking WLAN-to-LAN traffic, and your computer is connected using the network cable...
The other alternative I can think of (at the mo) is that the wireless is being set to use a different network address. For example, one of my routers was set to enable the WLAN, but block WLAN-to-LAN traffic. I soon changed that, but it was also set to use 192.168.1.X for the wired connections, whereas it was using 192.168.2.X for the WLAN... As the ".2" network couldn't access the WAN (external network) as the router's gateway out was using the ".1" network.
If either/both of these are the case, then it is fairly easy to resolve. All you need to do is log into the router using the web-interface, then make the required change/s in the menu options. I won't get into that now, as it could be something else - and I haven't spent any time looking for the available menus for your router......I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

Oh, it might be handy to let us know what the IPs that are being used are...
In XP, this is done by going Start --> Run --> 'cmd' <enter> --> 'ipconfig' <enter>.
You will get about six lines of text, one of which will say "IP Address: 192.168.X.Y', and another line (two lower) that says "Gateway: 192.168.X.Z" . As long as all of the devices have the same numbers for X and Z, and a different number for Y, it should work.....I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

(BTW, I don't have a Wii, XBox or any other oline gaming platform, so I don't know how to find it - I'm sure you would have had to check, or can google it if required...)
