WIFI Printer server on a WIFI network

Hi all,
this is my 1st post on this forum since some time now...

I've got a wireless network at home but because of lack of space I need to have the printer in a different room. I have ordered a wireless printer server, now that I have done that but not received yet I have some doubts...

Since I have only one wireless NIC on my PC do I need to change the AP every time I want to print?

I don't know much about networks but isn't the printer server a network on its own?

hope someone sheds some light on this.

thanks

The wireless print server will become part of your existing wireless network. It will connect to your access point just like your laptop does, and your laptop will send print jobs to the printer via the AP to the wireless print server, which passes them to the printer that it is attached to.

That's basically how it will work.

Cheers
Mick

Just to add, configure the wireless print server with the same wireless settings of your wireless router/AP. So, the SSID/wireless network name and wireless security settings (if there are any) must match so they can communicate with each other.

Send a message via ICQ to Keymaker Send a message via Yahoo to Keymaker

I.E Read the manual. It should tell exactly how to go through the configuration of the printer server.
