LAN icon missing from network connections

Hi all,

I have now come across a problem where both my LAN connections (ethernet port and wireless card) do not show up in network connections (only my dial up one does). This happened after installing and playing final fantasy 11 for a couple of hours, i shutdown my computer. Upon restart i was unable to connect to net.

I have tried numermous microsoft help sites and have googled but with no luck. I also have not got system restore so that option is out, i would rather not uninstal game as updates took ages but will if must.

Control Panel |System| Hardware| Device Manger. Expanded the network adapters tree. are they located there?


This could be a TCP stack issue. (I'm laughing because evertime I say this, the repair doesn't seem to work for anyone, yet it sounds like a Winsock or TCP stack issue.)


Anyway, you could try this. Wouldn't hurt. (The motherboard may beep at the end)

Now if the network adapters don't show up in device manger. I would try reinstalling the drivers. First uninstall the WIFI client software. Preferably in safe mode

Yes it has my wifi and nforce controller in device manager, I have tried reinstalling drivers but will try this winstock thing.
