Simultaneous wired and wireless LAN connections

Can't find the answer to a seemingly easy question.

I've got an interesting situation in my office at work. I have a Cat 5 connection to the LAN, but my wireless adapter also picks up a signal from a nearby conference room. Both appear to be active.

So do I effectively have more bandwidth?

Dell Latitude D620 running Windows 2000.

No. Your PC will use one as default (most likely the wired) and ignore the other. We usually disable the wireless in laptops used in the office just to eliminate the pop-ups about finding a wireless connection.

With a bit more looking around, you appear to be correct. My wireless connection manager says it's connected but the packets in/out numbers are not changing.

It'd be nice if it would work through both in a load balancing way. Although if the pipe out from the router is full, it's not going to speed anything up regardless of how many connections to the router you have.

Send a message via AIM to #43 fan
On the upside, if your Ethernet connection failed, you have a handy backup.
