    Starcraft

Hello everyone... Does anybody know how to figure out my proble? You see I was able to link my laptop and my desktop PC usinga crossover cable (Cat5) and evrything were doing fine. Now, I want to play Starcraft with my buddy using the crossover cable but I cannot see his name on the Starcraft Menu. I did create a game but my buddy cannot join because theres no option in the menu saying to join the game.. I used to play Starcraft before on LAN and evrytime I go to the Starcraft Menu there is an option there saying "Join the Game" and now there is none??? Is there anybody out there whos kind and patient enough to figure out my problem?? I would appreciate it very much...

Please email your message to renzkiejr@yahoo.com. Thanks

Are you using the latest patch? When you go into the multiplayer options are you picking tcp/ip?

Also make sure your friends firewall on his computer is off.

I tried to download the latest patch in the Blizzard support website but I think the patch now is nonexistent because I cant download it. I am using the Starcraft 1.09 version. Do you know any website where I can download the latest patch? When I go to multiplayer options I see the LAN with enclosed in parenthesis IPX and of course the other option connections such as the Battlenet, Modem and Direct Cable. So what I did was I included in my network properties the IPX Protocol and disabled firewalls. I did all of these and still the same problem...any idea what to do more to solve this problem?? Many thanks buddy....

I am not sure about playing over a LAN but, for your information:

i just bought the 'battlechest' version of starcraft for $20usd so i could play with friends over battlenet (battlechest was the only new version i could find, which includes the expansion 'broodwar'). Battlenet is still working with people playing on it. The patch automatically downloaded when I went to play online. i do not have a lan setup to play on.

as for the patch, it was version 1.15.2 i have attached the patch.txt file from the directory. a quick google search brought up these pages to download from:
StarCraft: Brood War Patch v1.15.2 - Planet Starcraft
SC-1152.exe - Download StarCraft v1.15.2 patch for Windows.
i did not try to download from these sites.

    goodluck

It adds the ability to play the game over TCP/IP and adds some fixes to the game

Keep us updated, when you go into multiplayer click tcp/ip and make sure you have the firewalls off.

If that doesn't work, make sure you can ping your friends ip address
