Bump for idea's.

I seriously have no idea who i should contact for further help...It's not a hardware problem, thats prooven by the fact that the same problem is happening with three different routers, from three different companies. It's not an ISP problem, they've had no other complaints of this kind, and from what they can see, no required settings have been altered, and there is no fault on the line.

So...Where do i go from here? Im completly confused beyond belief.

I was working and suddenly, no internet. I couldn't get it running so I called a tech. He said our ISP, we have only one, had changed their system. We configured the cables differently because what had been my DSL modem was now another router. At least, I think that was the reason.

It worked except I couldnt' connect without an ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew.

I tried another modem and another router. No luck. It worked fine without the router.

I fiddled with it for four days with no luck. My tech came over twice and fiddled with no luck. Last night I really screwed things up so I unplugged both the router and the modem/router. I read for an hour. I plugged them in and reset both to factory defaults. I changed one router setting, gateway to router, and now it works.

I hate it when I don't know why. I also don't know how long it will work but so far it's twelve hours and doing fine.

interesting...Could you explain what you did in detail (and in simple term's please...Networking is the weak part of my tech knowledge) please.

Nothing's happened so far on my side...A change in ADSL switcher has made no difference...

Hey, it's just one of my weak sides. I spent a day fiddling with configuration of both my Linksys router and my 2wire modem/router. I really got things screwed up. My tech was supposed to show up with another modem to try but he didn't make it.

I got a mess and seriously irritated and I went to the webpage for the Linksys router and reset to factory defaults. I did the same with the 2wire. Then I shut down the computer and unplugged both the router and modem. I'd done that before but this time I got a book and read for perhaps an hour. Then I reconnected cables, reconnected power, and waited while the router and modem reconfigured from no power.

Then I went to the router webpage, reset "gateway" to "router" on the advanced settings page and went to IE7. Everything connected with no problem.

It's been a little over 24 hours now and it's still connecting with no problem so I think it's fixed.

Well, its been a good 4 hours ish ive unplugged all the routers. Ive reset them to factory settings...Nothing. I hook it up and try to run the Setup wizzard. Nothing, same problem as before, it's simply not doing anything with the DSL line, and its showing the same problems as before.

Really...i have no idea what to try now...no idea at all.

Same Problem here last sunday no dsl sync

Right
Sunday no sync, tried all the norm,
Ended up connecting speed touch usb modem that synced but could not get connected so phone help desk for uw isp and somehow I had the wrong password, entered the password that they gave me all ok on speedtouch modem, but still no sync on linkys router = ho well new router netgear dg834pn,
still no sync
have been in touch with help line they say faulty netgear
I have tested NGear on 2 other lines Dads and another both sync OK and have connected to aol with N gear at dads aslo connected the old linksy up at dads and that synced
can get to set up page but with out sync can not get anywhere past the fist step.
I have been right back to the BT test socket with nothing else connected have even disconnected wires for the rest of the house so only router connected = no sync
have tried all filters and leads and even straight in without a filter with nothing else conected
I am going to buy a master socket and fit that,
But think the fault is outside
ISP wont report fault because I have sync with speed touch modem,
What is the difference between the speed touch and the routers?
Any and all help badly needed.

Nope, no problem sorted yet, im still using the fucking modem.

Ive been in touch now with countless helpdesks and technitians, and none of them can fix it, they all report the line working fine, the routers work fine around a friends house, so its not a hardware fault...It's just the routers are not sending a Sync Request...

Does anyone know how you could force a router to sync? I know it should be doing it on its own, as soon as the cable it plugged in, but its not heh.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
