"Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons.
My problem is not disabling, merely annoying. But I'm tired of it. Can anyone tell me how to make it go away?
Every time I boot up IE, I get this message:
"Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons.
All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.
Check for the latest Windows updates."
When I close and start IE again, I get the same message.
I checked for the latest Windows updates and downloaded them. No change.
When I search for "add-ons" in Help, I get this:
"To see all Internet Explorer add-ons:
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, click Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons."
But when I click the Tools button, there is no "Manage Add-ons" option.
When I go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-ons, I get a list of Add-ons. Beside every single one in the Status column, it says "Enabled."
What am I to do?

Delete the icon you are starting IE from and create a new one.

Try my suggestion above.
Or you can try this:
Delete the icon you are starting IE from and create a new one.

Thanks, but I tried that and that didn't work. It also does the same thing when I click "start" and then click "IE". When I switch to a different user on the computer, it works just fine.

Fix IE
Use Firefox ;-) Microsoft sucks like a huge tornado, and crapware is about the only thing they can put out these days!
Off my rant though and to more practical matters...your problem with M$ crapware...
Right-click on the icon you are using to launch IE (maybe this is in the start menu or maybe on the desktop). Do you see any parameters following the iexplore.exe command? If so delete the parameter.
Don't ask my how this gets tacked on -- just chalk it up to more sloppy programming driven by a marketing engine.

Hi everyone, I had the same problem... Launching from the start menu, and then run seems to do the trick. Creating a new shortcut seems to have fixed the problem as well.
Thanks again, good karma will be coming around your way!

Remove -exoff
===========================
All you have to do is go to your Desktop
Right Click on the IE icon...then go to Properties..then in Target you'll see something like this:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer -exoff
Just revove the -exoff
Click Apply
Restart your IE again....
Everything will be back to normal.

It's so easy when you know.
Thank you Jose.
I was going nuts trying to fix this 'without add-ons' problem. I must have read dozens of fixes before coming across yours. So simple and it worked perfectly. You live in NYC, I live in Brooklyn. If we should ever bump into each other, I owe you a cup of coffee.
Many Thanks,
Jake

IE Add ons
Hi everyone,
I had the same problem and I just got it fixed, thanks forum ( but I can't remember which one). Just start and go to IE icon,
right clic properties and in the "target" slot you would see
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"exoff
Just delete exoff and apply.
You will be fine.

What seems to have happened is the shortcut you are using as somehow been converted to the Internet with no addons. (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)) To fix it, find the correct Internet Explorer (probably in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe), then edit the shortcut you are using's target to the address of the correct Internet. Problem Solved!
