Lo all
I have a problem with my new PC, i use it for gaming online and the problem is the wifi card or its drivers i think. Its an edimax ew-7728IN PCI wireless N with the latest drivers.
What happens is when im playing online every 20 or 30 seconds EVERYTHING freezes for about 2 or 3 seconds and then im somewhere else (its a massive lag spike) it affects web browsing aswell and more noticable on most games than others. sometimes it will cut itself off from the internet completey, the green icon representing a good connection becomes see thru representing no connection and 10 seconds later its connected again all by itself.
Every other pc or laptop i had in the same place had a perfect connection from where my pc is now, i(ts using wireless N, has three antennas (MIMO?) and is connected to the router one wall away via wireless N with 2 antennas. i have never had this problem before.
Anyone else had problems like this before? Any help
Vista 64
Asus P6T deluxe
Core i7 920
3GB DDR3

Do you have the latest router firmware installed? Do you see other wireless networks around you?
What router do you have? |

I have a (starting from my internet connection) my Cable coming to a D-Link DI-514, (open. i know dont go there my family are idiots) usnsure about drivers connected wirelessly to my Linksys WRT150N with DD-WRT firmware with the latest drivers acting as a repeater to give me extra signal.
Yes i can see a lot of other networks around me, but i never had this problem with my old USB Belkin. |

What you may want to do is check settings within the wireless router. There should be some kind of setting where you can change the "channel" (usually 1-11 in a drop down list, going by memory here) that's being used. D-link tends to default to channel 6 as do most other makes, making this the most commonly used channel. It's possible that your Belkin could have had a different default channel setting.
I had this same exact problem and had noticed that there were like 5 other wifi connections around me, so I changed this setting to something other than default and it cleared up.
Post back and let us know if this corrects the issue or not.

Ok i tried a few different channels but it did not improve it one bit (it now cuts out very frequently) so i changed it back, its now doing what it was before still :/
I know its not a problem with my routers as every other machine i use works flawlessly on wifi but my main gaming machine, surely its down to the wifi card or drivers? |
