| Dual Modem Connection for Internet?
Hello,
I was wondering if it’s possible to have two separate modems connected to the same phone line servicing two separate computers.
1st computer connected to the original modem (AT&T DSL) connected to wireless Dlink router and wireless laptop working through this configuration, on main floor.
2nd – New desktop – will be in the attic (Master suite). There are two phone jacks located up there. One in the bedroom, the other outside the bedroom.
Can I add another modem here and be able to access the internet while accessing the internet from the other desktop and laptop without any issues?
Or will I have to run a 50’ Ethernet Cable from the attic to the main floor wireless router to be able to access the internet?
Thanks |

You can just add a wireless card in the attic and use the wireless router to get an internet connection |

I wanted to do that, but since it's my girlfriends computer and she has issues with wireless connections (I don't see why because she has no problem using my wireless laptop), but to keep things happy in the home, i'll have it wired. |

What issues does she have with wireless connections? To answer your original question no you wont be able to add a second modem. So either you run the cabling or use the wireless you have in the house. |

LOL, I'm quiet sure you know how it is in in relationship, some people have little things the tick them off. My GF had some issues trying to log into a website to take her classes on the laptop and related it to the wireless connection, since when she logged into the wired desktop on the main floor, she had no issues. Even after I showed her it was a web browser issue (I.E vs Firefox) she still don't want it. Go figure. It is what it is.
Ok, i'll have to go into the walls to run the cable. Relationships!!!
Thanks for your quick response. |

You could also try "Power Over Ethernet", but this would only work if the power sockets are on the same 'ring'...
