Wireless Adapter Driver missing

When I boot up my laptop the first thing it says is that a wireless driver is not installed. I re-formated the entire system to see if it would change. I then installed all the drivers from the cd that Dell supplied me with and when I tried to install the intel pro wireless driver my computer said that the installer would not install the driver. I have also gone to support.dell.com and downloaded those drivers for my laptop. Still nothing. Any direction?

Ok so I did so and I got this message that appeared. It states Adapter problem: Driver is not installed. I have installed a driver and it is not clearing up that problem. By the way this laptop runs on xp professional. Dell Inspiron 640m. thanks again

Go into Device Manager, under network adapters and tell me what you see.

I got
-1394 Net Adaptor
-Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

The Broadcom is for my ethernet and the 1394 is for the wireless... at least I think.... It's the adaptor.

Any New Ideas? I have also tried uninstalling and installing the wireless adapters or the 1394 Net Adapter. That didn't work. Also the BIOS is showing that there is no wireless device. Is that to say that there are no drivers installed or it is not reading my wireless card in the computer? Anymore ideas would be great
