| Wifi router problem - Frequently disconnecting
Hi! I'm having an annoying problem.
I have a network setup where one stationary computer (LAN) and one laptop (WIFI) are connected to a ZyXEL P-660HW router. I'm not using a DSL connection, but have internet acces through a TP outlet in the wall, therefore a second LAN-port in the router is connected to that wall-connection. Because of this, I have the router configured in "Bridge mode".
Everything works perfectly fine as long as the laptop is turned off. But when I turn it on and it's connected to the router, the network starts disconnecting all the devices frequently. On my stationary computer I get the message "network cable unplugged", but it only lasts for a split second and never long enough to interrupt downloads or so.
With the laptop however, it completely disconnects and takes some seconds before it connects again. And the disconnecting of WIFI happens at the very same moment as the "network cable unplugged" on the stationary computer.
Exactly the same thing happens when I use my iPhone to connect to the network, thus the problem is not in the laptop.
Note that the problem still exists if the stationary computer is turned off.
My internet providor delivers IP-addresses through DHCP, and the IPs are fixed. Every device connected to the network receives the settings through DHCP. I have tried changing security modes between WPA and WPA2, and changed channel frequency (tried mode 1, 6, 9, 11) but nothing seems to help. I have the latest firmware for the router.
Please help me locate the problem!!! |

What I mean is that when I'm connected to the router with a wireless unit there is always a problem with frequent interruptions. And theese interruptions seems to disable the whole network for a short while (which I notice because if my stationary computer is connected to the same router with cable, I get a "cable unplugged" message on my stationary computer.)
But if I have ONLY the stationary computer turned on, and connected with cable, there is never a problem.
Summary: wireless units connected to the router make some sort of interruption that seems to disable the router from functioning at all, for a second or so!
I've reinstalled the latest firmware on the router, and ofcourse restarted it. I have changed channel frequency, encryption type, encryption key, firewall off, MAC-filter off etc. I've tried with different wireless units and different stationary computers and different TP-cables. |

i re-read ur above now i got you when u turn off the pc and return it on the wifi and the lan of ur pc is turn off i want you to check the router when u turn it on the LAN ports of the routers powered off or on and check the WLAN is also turn off or on! what i also understand from u is when u turn the LAN it work properly only if u turn the laptop wirelesss got problem what i want from u put cable CAT between laptop and router don't turn the wireless check it by the LAN and tell me if it have the same problem by the Cable LAN between laptop and the router. and vise versa try to disable pc and try only wireless between laptop and router if it connect check both. what i see about the wireless problem is releated to the frimeware retry install the old frimeware and follow these steps add on the previous steps : 1. How far is the computer sitting away from the access point/router? Sometimes it might just be signal strength and/or interference.
2. Speaking of Interference, do you have any neighbors with access points? Have you tried changing the Channels to avoid channel conflicts with your neighbors?
3. If you have a neighbor that is doing "Super-G", which actually uses all 11 available channels, then you're out of luck because you will get performance hits
check the cables between laptop and router and turn off the pc and try wifi and the router and tell me which one doesn't make the router disconnect and try to install the old frimeware and retry these steps + check the steps i told you with.
