Laptop will not connect with wired connection.
I am stumped. I am using a Linksys 2.4GHz Wireless-G router and a10/100 workgroup switch. 4 computers are on this system, 3 being wired and working fine. 1 is a HP laptop using the wireless feature and working fine. I installed a hpme wireless video security system which also broadcast on 2.4GHz. Obviously a conflict. Disabled wireless network connection on laptop and connected cable from computer 3, which goes through switch. I cannot get a working connection on the laptop using the cable. This laptop has used wired connections before in hotels and other locations. I've changed settings to match other wired computer. Reconnected cable in computer 3, amd it works. Put cable back in laptop and no go. I’ve done all I know to do without success. Any ideas?

What OS are you running? Does it give you a 169.x.x.x address?

Does your Desktops work on MAC Address access? if no then restore the Linksys or install a firmware.

Mac address restrictions only affect wireless clients connecting to the wireless.
dmurphy42 do you get a link light on the network card when you plug into the router? Have a you tried a different network port or a different cable?

I changed network ports and that solved the problem. So simple--but not if you do not know what to do. Thanks. I appreciate your help and guidance.
