| Wireless connection
I have Verizon, and just got a new laptop. Called them and they configured a wireless connection. All is fine until I leave the area. If I try and connect to another network while out, and come home and try to reconnect to my own, I can't even though it says signal strong.
If I take it out and don't try and connect to anything else, when I come back, it automatically reconnects. Verizon just has no clue. When I call, they change the channel and it comes back for the time being.
Thanks. |

Hi, and WELCOME TO TECHIMO...!
Hmmmm, this is an interesting one...
Maybe we need to know what OS are you using (XP, Fista, W7, Linux...??) so that we can try to help you further, but for the moment at least, I'm stumped...
[GroundZero, where are you..?!?!? ]

So if im understanding this right, you cant connect to any other wireless networks but yours? Are these other wireless networks open networks that allow access to them?
What OS? Are you using wireless card software or the windows wireless manager to connect to networks? What router do you have?
And just to be clear, we aren't talking about those cell cards from Verizon? |

You have a new laptop so you probably have Vista. Try turning of IPv6 in the network control panel. Quote:
1.
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.
Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
| See where it says TCP ipv6? http://www.petri.co.il/images/hide_y..._network_2.gif
Untick that and press ok.
If your not sharing files, turn that option off too! There are better ways...a whole new topic though....
