I have internet through Time Warner, a Vonage phone, and a Linksys wireless router. When I connect through the router, the phone works, but the internet does not. When I take the router out of the connection, the internet and phone works. I don't think the router is broken, as this has happened before and my husband fixed it. Now he is away and I can't get it working correctly. I have tried resetting all the equipment, but still doesn't work. Does my problem have to do with the sequence of resetting?
Current connection sequence: cable to TW moden, then to Vonage box, then to router, then to computer. |

That was part of my question. What is the proper sequence when you have an internet modem, a router, and vonage. |

Lets start off with what model of the router you have and go from there |

You said vonage phone, then vonage box. Does the vonage device have a model number too? |

I am at work right now, and we're discussing the home setup, so I will have to continue this chat from home. But I will not be there until after 8 p.m. tonight. |

Its been a awhile since I have used vonage, but if i remember correctly its cable modem to router wan port, then depending on the vonage device it will plug into one of the Ethernet ports. The link I provided earlier tells you what ports need to be forward correct for Vonage to work behind a router. Might want to check out the router to make sure all the settings are still correct.
The linksys router you have sounds like the Linksys WRT54G-GL which doesn't have the vonage phone ports built into the router. |
