    Some one Help, Terminal Services!

When I connect to my Terminal Server through my Workstation, using either the Terminal Services Client or Remote Desktop, I'm limited to 256 Color, using the display option in Remote Desktop with more colors (True Color 24 bit), I know it's not from the Workstations End, It's The Server!
    Now to the Point!
How can I set the Server to enable Higher Resulotion?

    Terminal Server: Windows 2000 Server

I have not seen that before. Is the server console set higher than 256 colors and 640x480? If not, that may be the problem.

Sorry, 256 is the best it will do.

That explains the 256 colors well, but not the resolution.

Ooops, I was thinking a 640x480 resolution was the problem.

snaggle, is there a problem with resolution too?

No sorry I didn't mean that!
    The Colors only!

M_Six, But that only Applies to Windows NT 4 Terminal Server

I have had it work before at full color!
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...;Q278502#Task2

This is what I checked out earlier and I did what it said
Click Start , click Run , and then type MMC .

Click the Console menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in , and then click Add . Select Group Policy .

Click Add , make certain that Local Computer is selected in the Group Policy Object box, click Finish , and then click Close .

Select Computer Configuration , click Administrative Templates , and then click Terminal Services .

Select Limit Maximum Color Depth and set it to the color depth that you want.

But still for some reason it doesn't work!

snaggle, are you are obviously not using NT40 as the TS host, does this mean it is XP?

Well this is confusing. This article says Win2K Terminal Server is limited to 256 colors also, but the article snaggle posted would lead you to believe otherwise. Typical MS.

The Article that a Posted is for Setting both ends Server and Workstations to enable higher screen resolution to Greater depth Than 256 Colors.

It discribes how to set both a Windows XP Client Using Remote Desktop and a Windows 2000 Terminal Server to enable higher than 256 color resolution.

I'm Using Windows 2000 Server on my Server
and my Workstation is running Windows XP Pro!

So it's not me, it's you guys not reading the hole of the article!

256 colours is all the remote desktop protocol supports in windows 2000. XP has a newer version which allows higher colour; that's why your desktop client implies up to 32 bit colour. With the next MS server OS (.Net)and windows XP pro, you can use high colour. On win2k, you get to live with 256 in all it's glory. You'll get used to it, though, I manage all my servers via the terminal, and don't even notice anymore.
