Powerline Ethernet Extender adapters

I am thinking of buying a couple of network extender adapters, but cannot decide if the 85mbs or the 200mbs is required.

I know the 200mbs is quicker, but as it is to connect my X360 to avoid the wireless option, would the 85mbs suffice for all X360 has to offer?

Or am I better going for the 200mbs...which is around £30 more expensive.

Any advice appreciated

I know nothing about X boxes.
But in general,

Most high speed internet connections are less than 10 mps AFAIK.

So I would think the only time you can take advantage of the faster speed is within your own home network.

Can you post the models numbers of the devices you are using? Any reason you arent looking into wireless? Powerline technology is a hit and a miss and never really took off, it started to come back with higher speeds but I still dont see anyone really purchasing it.

Powerline is pretty notoriously unreliable. Is this a situation where you can look at using directional wifi antennas for repeating your network? Honestly you'd probably get better performance and reliability that way, even through walls.

I am currently using a hybrid powerline network.

I am providing service to my sisters house through 500+ feet of 16 gauge wire she is achieving 9 Mbps to the internet, I have never experimented with local network speeds.

Ultimately I am pleasantly surprised by the technology. I can not guarantee speeds of 200mbps within your house but I would not doubt it either.

Get a unit and if you don't like it return it tomorow.

I looked into those to hook up my Xbox 360 because a wireless connection just wasn't happening easily down in my basement...at least I wasn't getting enough bandwidth to use my Netflix account on it. I ran ethernet wire to it even though it was a real PITA to run it, I'm happy I did.

My other option would have been going with the powerline adapters, but I had all the cat5e cable and connectors I could possibly use for free, so I went the harder route.

Personally, I think I would get the fastest one you can afford...speeds will increase, and the technology I would assume is a little better in the faster units.
