| that is some dxdiag info
connection speed according to midco: Download Speed: 13094 kbps (1636.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 248 kbps (31 KB/sec transfer rate)
My problem is I have a connection issue when it comes to MMO games ONLY. I run all other games correctly on the net, I can surf the web just fine, I can go on ventrillo just fine but when it comes to any MMO games im nearly disconnecting, rubberbanding, or outright cant move. I have a router but whether or not its even connected to everything I still get this problem.
I've tried things like openDNS and halfopen and none of those did anything to alleviate the problem. If you have any questions which will lead to solving the problem I'll try my best to answer.
I would appreciate some help. Thank you.

Being that there are thousands or so MMO's, all requiring different specs, would need a few examples to determine if your system is good enough. |

Your upload speed (minus ANY network issues) leaves a lot to be desired. Although I do not play mmorpg's I am somewhat familiar with their system requirements. Outside of WoW they tend to be high so you will undoubtedly help us help you by posting the specific game/s you are having an issue with. I will still say it is your crappy upload speed/underlying isp issues causing the problems that you describe.
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Mobo: Newegg.com - ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3072MB RAM
Your hardware is more than capable. You say only mmo's? Have you tried Battlefield 2 in say a 64 person server? Cod4 32 person server? No lag or latency?
I think your problem lies within the amount of data needing to be sent out by your client and an underlying roadblock by your isp. |

Just curious. What are your results using this? Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test Run it at least four times.
What type of route r do you have there?
Using wireless? That will be an issue with high amounts of data transfer. Even when close by to the antenna. if your using a wireless connection try it wired and see what happens.

its your upload speed and/or most likely probably a latency issue, causing the lag. if your appearing to lag bad to other players in other games, and noticing only a little on your end, it could be their lagging a bit too... or the servers your connecting to as well.
to be honest with a 13 Meg download speed your getting screwed on the upload speed, but depends on your ISP I guess.
for example, I've got charter with a 5Mb download an a 512Kb upload. from what I've read the typical upload speed is usually 1/6th to 1/10th the download speed, at least on Cable Broadband internet ISP's.

I mean on its face that's the way it looks right now for you. Your download speed is fine. That upload is a little concerning.
What shows up using this? Bandwidth Speed Test

Chances are that if your game does not lag in single player offline mode but only online it is most certainly a network issue. However this is a very vague statement to make without knowing specifically what games you have tried.
Diagnosing network issues is much more complicated then running some spotty ping, speed or latency tests. In the end you are invariably left with common sense options such as paying more for more bandwidth, switching to another isp or reporting your isp to your regulatory office for not providing you with the service they are advertising. For a much more robust set of network diagnosing tools come on over to DSL · Cable · VOIP · Security · Satellite · Fiber · News · Tips · Reviews · Community · Tools - dslreports.com and try their line quality or other in depth testing solutions to finally reach the conclusion I just gave you. |
