Hello - it's me again Mr. Windows Server 2003 for SBS.......we are in the process of deploying Kaspersky Enterprise Security...we have installed it on the server and about 5 client computers...the RDP connection is saying that I cannot connect to the renote computer.........now, a server reboot temporarily clears this issue up and everything is fine.....then we get this meassage again a short time later. The RDP worked fine before the Kaspersky deployment - how would I begin to troubleshoot this? I will also post this on the Kaspersky forums as well..... |

Are you logging off when finished with a session versus clicking on the X to end it?

Yes...also have 3389 open on the router. It seems to have just developed with the Kaspersky deployment - plus it is a different message when there are too many administrators logged on that haven't logged off prroperly isn't it? |

Does the Kaspersky have some sort of built in firewall on it? |

If you disable Kaspersky does the problem go away? |

I was on the phone with Kaspersky tech support this morning - there are a few setting in the trusted zones and exclusions area that he had me tick...but he said that windows RDP and VPN are pretty much all set with Kaspersky.. ...I was wondering if there was an error log to look at in the windows server somewhwere that may give an indication of where to go for a direction......... |

Windows server only allows you to have 2 open RDP sessions at the same time by default, make sure that you are actually logging off when you are done with the session. Also, I would try opening the task manager from the windows 2003 machine and go to the users tab to see who, and how many people are logged in |

Just prior to this issues I had ticked a setting in the terminal services configuration area reference to the RDP settings. We were having problems with various users not logging off their connection and having the two connections open like you spoke of...so I researched this and set the log off setting for the rdp after 30 minutes of idle time......maybe this was it - I unticked it last night. |

Latest - disabled kaspersky on the server and connected with no problem....opened a ticket with Kaspersky and they initially stated that Kaspersky does not have problems with RDP and VPN...as they day progressed he finally had me change a prticular file: Please do the following, This will require a reboot…. reboot into safe mode and rename kl1.sys to kl1.old [system32/drivers] and reboot into normal mode Disregard any error messages from KAV and do not open interface for testing purposes. recheck condition several times or Disable self-defense [right click K icon in system tray > settings > options > …Exit KAV [right click K icon in system tray] rename kl1.sys to kl1.old [system32/drivers] reboot Disregard any error messages from KAV and do not open interface for testing purposes. recheck condition several times I did this and it seems to have fixed it. Will keep you posted - and thanks.
