Router lagging

ey,
since few weeks somewhy im laggin bad, i mean 180+ ping and i can't play normally.
I guess this is because of my router cuz i cant find smtin else.
usually my ping is 100-120 and im totally fine.
I've seen some posts about firmware etc but i don't get this stuff.
I also tried to chnage cfg commands but it didn't help aswell...
is there any idea how to solve it?

What are you pinging? What is the make and model of your router? What internet connection do you have and how many users are behind the router?

Well you said you heard some information about the firmware, can you downgrade and see if your ping times go back down?

Also what game is this? Do all servers get ping times as you are reporting? What if you open a command prompt and ping the game server address. Does the ping times reflect what the game is saying?

You can also remove the router and plugged your pc directly into the modem. And see how your speeds are

Often there is a "Diagnostic" area on a router, and you can test how the response is internally and externally....

For example, log into the router and PING your computer's internal (LAN) IP address. You should get a response - and it should be around 1-5 ms. Now try to PING an external (WAN) IP address/name and see how that goes... Bear in mind that not all places will accept (or reply to) your PING request, so I'd suggest just using Google (google.com) as the WAN test....

The reason I'm suggesting this is that I've had a similar issue before, where it turned out that the WAN port on the router was failing..... It was first noticed as internet slowdowns...

Let us know how you get on...
