| Linksys router setup help
Ok here's the deal. I got a router that is practically brand new from my neighbor, and I would like to use it. It's a WRT54G router.
I've pressed the reset button on the back of the router to clear out any info that may have been saved on it. (held it for 30 seconds also)
When I hook it up, I obviously can't access the internet. I try to go to the routers homepage, and it prompts for username and password. I've read on the linksys site this should be set to default after the reset, so I should leave the "username" blank, and for a password it should be "admin".
Well that doesn't work. I've tried a variation of "user" and "admin", tried "password" and that failed also.
So I go on the linksys site, and download the setup wizard (which I know isn't really needed) and upon running that, I get the error the "cannot locate router".
I've pinged the router, it's there. The ping returns fine. I know it's not a cable or anything, as all this was just working before I switched out the router.
Anyone care to point me in the right direction? |

Was the router plugged in when you held down the reset button? |

Try "admin" for username. Blank password. If that does not work, try "admin" for both username and password. Update: Plug it in first. ;p

Ok so now I got it to reset. I can access the first page. But now no matter what I can't get net through the router...
Again, even with the "easy setup" it guides me through it, but still no net at the end... |

What type of connection do you have?
Cable?
DSL? PPPoA or PPPoE? |
