hosting with dreamhost, domain with godaddy

hey, i'm kind of a newb when it comes to domains/website hosting. i own a domain with godaddy, but I've recently picked up dreamhost as my hosting service. i'm trying to connect my dreamhost hosting account to the domain that i own on godaddy and I'm having trouble. am i missing something basic? thanks

on a side note, i already did the "add a domain to host" on teh dreamhost side, and i see a folder for it now when i ftp to my dreamhost account, but don't i have to confirm something on the godaddy side? otherwise i could just claim any domain as mine...
