belkin range extender doesnt work with my Belkin wireless router

hey, im not very computer technical, but i will try and give as much detail as possible

ive got a Belkin N1 wireless router and recently wanted to extend the range of it, so i bought a Belkin Range Extender router. It seemed simple as there is an auto connect button, but i couldnt get this to work and connect to the N router. so i got the manually set it up via the IP (192.168.2.254) and got it to be a repeater to my existing network (IP is 192.168.2.1)
the SSID names are different, but i can connect to the range extender wirelessly, but the connection keeps cutting off from the extender..

    why is this?

can someone please give me steps on getting it to work seamlessly

    thanks

yup and got no joy from it, as it only tells me how to set it up as a repeater via using the auto config button, the other set up is to connect it to a wired router to enable wireless abilities.

i followed the instructions in the manual to set up the repeater, but the extender network just drops

Belkin Range Extender not Connecting to Belkin N1

I have a very similar issue. I followed the instructions and keep ketting the Wireless light flashing amber on my N1 when I power on the extender.
Sure enough, the passkey etc. is loaded as the extender finds the N1, but no connection.

I bought the Belkin Extender so I would have issues, who wrong was I?

    Any advice would be welcome.
