after that i go and disable DHCP and change the router's IP to something within the d-link's subnet?
my d-link is 192.168.0.1
should i change the linksys to 192.168.0.2?
also the security settings ned to be the same as well, correct?

YEs to the address change and DHCP disable on the Linksys and yes to the security settings
I would set up the dlink and linksys with no wireless security to make sure you can connect to each other. Test that out first then try it out with wireless encryption

Did you disable the security like I said to make sure you can connect the two devices in the first place?

I would check that you haven't got your computer using the 192.168.0.2 IP first, but then check/change the scope of the DHCP so that you can (my preference) change the range to start at .11 so that you have room for any static IPs to be used without messing up the rest of the DHCP scope...
Unfortunately, I will have to let Net down as I'm at the limit of my knowledge on this subject - I normally have the ability to just plug another WAP in, without needing to set up a bridge...although I did give it a try before, but that seemed to not work as I had intended - I have three/four routers in my W/LAN network, all from different manufacturers, and all also in use as switches...I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

Strange,,
It's pretty strange that it won't let you save settings, I have never seen that. I agree with setting the address range to.11 to prevent identical address conflicts and to turning off security but for the browser to shut down,,that I have never seen.
You may want to call Linksys support, they are pretty good. 800-326-7114 and they are open 24 hours a day. I will watch for your posts.

Linksys will not give him support now that he has DD-WRT installed.
To the OP, since you have DD-WRT installed follow this:

Linksys does not support third party firmware, you are pretty much on your own after you install it

i know i'm very close
my PS3 can taste it in the living room...lol
i think i'm just getting confused because most of the tutorials are for two WRT54G/GS routers
i only have one...so i think figuring out IP addresses is what's throwing me off =(

Im not understanding why the ip addresses is confusing you? Your router should be 192.168.0.1 and your linksys should be 192.168.0.2. Even if you never set an ip address on the linksys to the right subnet and you got it connected the wireless bridge would be up.
Nothing should be using .2 unless you have the dlink dhcp scope starting at .2
Are you trying to connect them wireless without any security setup? What verison of DD-WRT are you running?

that's what they're set at
for some strange reason it still doesn't work
not sure what i'm doing wrong, i followed pretty much every single tutorial i could find.
Step #1: i set up the D-link as you would any other router
Step #2: upgraded linksys to DD-WRT v24 software
Step #3: Changed wireless mode to "client bridge", and use the same SSID as the d-link
Step #4: changed the linksys IP to 192.168.0.2
Step #5: turned off DCHP
Step #6: made the security settings the same as the d-link
am i missing anything you think??

Wireless > Basic Settings: choose "Client-Bridged" as Wireless Mode and set SSID, Wireless channel and Network Mode to same values as your primary. (Note: it is better to use network mode G-only on both primary and secondary, otherwise everything slows down to B if there is even one B device anywhere.). Click save then apply.
Status > wireless: scroll down and click site survey, then click join the desired network, then continue, then save, then apply.
Status Tab — Wireless Subtab
Click Site Survey, and Join the appropriate wireless network. Access Point table should show the MAC address of your Primary Router, along with signal strength. (SSID Broadcast MUST be enabled on your primary router) At this point it was working 100% for me.
If that worked, then:.
Did you do what it ask you to do in bold ? Did you go into the site survey section, have it discover your network and then join it?

Also, in case it hasn't already been mentioned...... Make sure you have disabled the DHCP server on one of the routers - otherwise they might cause the wrong one to stop.....
