WAN settings
im setting my router up, and i was wondering should i change the WAN setting to static ip instead of dynamic ip? i have a static ip address on my pc now, but do i have to make it static on my router?
my router is a dlink di-524.
the setting it is on now is dynamic.-----MW2 quick scope FTW-----

Unless your isp issued you a static ip, leave it dynamic.

Even if you've been issued a static WAN IP by your ISP, I would still leave the WAN setting as Dynamic....
It is the same as if you set up a DHCP reservation, I would still leave the client set to use DHCP (rather than give it a matching Static IP) for it...I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...

Funny, I figure that is about the same time i will get a new laptop at work, and I will be lucky if it has Win7 on it.
