Wireless G better than N in same location

    Hi Folks
I just replaced my router with a Netgear WNDR 3700. The G wireless two floors above is great (100mbps) but the N is poor (12Mbps). Any ideas why that would be? Thanks

So using the same router, you're getting better speeds from wireless G? Or are you comparing this router's wireless N to an older router's wireless G?

same router - Its a netgear WNDR3700 which can transmit both types of wireless simultaneously - G at 2.4Mhz and N at 5Mhz. I have two laptops that are G and N capable - both get 100Mbps on G but about 12Mbps on N in the same room. One laptop is XP pro and the other is win7 64bit

It sounds like it could be a driver issue...or that you've got something interfering with the "N" signal.....
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...
