Solaris with a cable modem
Has anyone used Solaris with a cable modem? I am connected to the router(I can ping) but I cannot get on the internet.

Completely dumb question, but are you setting your gateway?
Is it DHCP or static-assigned addresses?

The gateway has a stactic IP. I think I would have to setup DHCP if the Solaris machine was getting the ISP ip address, but I am sharing a connection with a windows machine(if this makes sense) I am configuring the router the same way I did to share two windows machines. I probably have to do something different but I don't know what
Thanks

Can you ping external websites if you use there ip address?
Have you set the router as your gateway on the solaris box?

You also will have to create the resolve.conf file and put your DNS servers in it to be able to resolve URLs.

You guys are right! I can get to a site using the IP address, so it is a DNS issue. I will create the resolv.conf and try that.
Thanks

I believe its /etc/resolv.conf not /etc/resolve.conf, but I could be horribly wrong
