Problems with frequent disconnects to DSL internet.
I am not to tech oriented but I do like being able to watch netflix and play black ops so here goes. Some days it will be fine others I will disconnect 10 to 15 times a day. I have determined that its not an issue with the router but one with the modem and/or actual connection that I have through dsl. It does happen often when two or more xboxs or pcs are using the internet. It also happens when just one is using the interenet, any way Ive gotten a new modem, tried calling my isp(ATT), leaving it off for a day but nothing is working. Please help me before I go insaine.

How did you determine it wasn't the router? Which ATT? (north, south, east, west)
Have you been to your router site? Mine (http://192.168.1.254/) has the option of changing the channel, and I found a significant gain by changing that... I used this to test that.◄ it is what it is ►

Well I am assuming that since the router works every time the modem does that it is not a problem with the router, but I am in experienced with networking so who knows. I am also assuming that its probably att south, I live in NW Arkansas. I have been to the router site a few times but it was a visit to set up a security password for my wireless connection.

OK then... I've used that modem with no probs. Have you tried a different router?
What is the distance between the router and the problem computer?
Also, here are some ideas for expanding coverage. Hope this helps!◄ it is what it is ►

I have not tried using a different router, what would you recommend?
The distance between all devices is no more than 30 feet. When I have a wireless single it is always excellent. I have two xboxs, and a desktop connected via lan to the router, and 3 laptops that connect wireless. We never have everything going at the same time. Its usually just the xboxs and the desktop.Last edited by swisswhiskey; May 10th, 2011 at 11:30 AM.
