    Wireless Router Preference?

I am needing a new wireless router. I have a Linksys WRT54G at present, but it will randomly lose internet connection (wireless and hardwired) intermittently. I do have a NAS attached and when I lose internet connection I still have access to the NAS.

I have been hearing not so good things about the Cisco/Linksys routers and I dont like Belkin routers.

I am up for suggestions/your preferences.

    Thank you in advance.

I went through several Netgear wireless routers. Seems they had an overheating problem & would fail in less than a year. I'll probably never use another.

I've had a Linksys WRT54G for years now. I wish they made a N version of it - that would be my pick.

What kind of wireless cards do you have on your network?

I assume your NAS has a 1 GB network card on it, so you would want to look into a router with gigabit on it. How much are you wanting to spend?

wireless cards are apple airport and a iTouch.

NAS is a Seagate Free Agent 1 TB USB/Ethernet

at this point money isn't a concern...I am just looking at your personal preferences and then will do more research from there.

Personally, if it was down to me, I would suggest that a separate GB switch was used...most of the wireless N routers/WAPs only have 100 Mbps switch ports on the back (I haven't seen any Gbps + wireless N devices yet) and there's most likely to be a bottleneck at the gateway anyway...

In my network, I've used (and still have most of these, even if they've since been relegated to just being used for the switch) Netgear NETGEAR WGR614v10 on DSL [currently my gateway], Asus WL500b on DSL, NETGEAR DG834G for ADSL, Linksys WRV200 for DSL, Zyxel 662HW on ADSL.

Depending on what is required, and which firmware level in use, it breaks down to what is required and how tweakable you want it to be...and how much you want to spend on it...
I've seen the light... It was green, flashy and attached to a Network Interface Card...
Whenever someone says "You can't miss it", I invariably do...
