Exceeded Bandwidth
Hey guys, i'm having a problem, i come home to a 400 dollar internet bill, with 233 of is being exceeded bandwidth.
Now I've been working all month, haven't played any online games or downloaded much of anything, only thing i've used the internet for is email, webpages and netflix but i have been watching a lot of netflix.
now they have a cap of 200 gigs, and they said i used 330 gigs, now i cannot imagine using that much last month considering before i did nothing but play wow, download torrents, play black ops and watch netflix, literally all day i was unemployed then lol.
So is it just me or does it seem like they messed up.

1 night might equal 8 or 12, maybe 16 gigs of Netflix - multiply by 30 . . .
MY issue is they are using the "excuse" that 5 or 10 percent of the users are the "excessive" users that required them to create the cap. I consider that a blatant lie. They know they can screw us over, and are doing so.
I STRONGLY disagree with the tactic, but with 90+ percent of the people just rolling over and taking it without complaint, there doesnt seem much we can do.They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

Thanks Surreal but it won't help me now that i gotta pay for it lol, beside i watch netflix on my ps3
I'll be honest i'm an anime freak i'd blow thru a 23 episode series in 2 days, but what gets me is before when i didn't have a job i was online alot more, with netflix, torrents, wow, and other things, and i never went over cap.

That' sounds weird then, I think you should call them and talk to them... (but leave out the torrents part)

(I"m not even going to mention the 40 hours of Korean Drama I watched in about 4 days

Are you sure you never went over? I've read several complaints of similar issues and typically it breaks down to they are "repeat" offenders. So the ISP decides to take action.

i went over the month before but they only charged me 64 dollars, i figures it was only a few gigs and didn't call them but i started to monitor how much i used, i quit all online gaming including console, i get facebook and emails go my phone so i don't even use the browser, my computer was off for 3 weeks!
all i really used it for was stronghold kingdoms and netflix, thats nothing compared to the month before where i was on wow/ rift 24/7 with netflix going.

Check your router logs and see if maybe someone else has been leeching your connection. If nothing else just call and explain you haven't been home much and ask if they can give you a daily usage or something. All else considered that's about all you can really do.

If you have Comcast they have a usage meter when you sign into your account. Has to be the main account though. I monitor my usage via a small computer and SNMP through the router.
