    Wired networking

I have 2 computers both are running windows 7 home premium, but 1 is(we'll call this one the gateway) 64 bit and the other is 32 bit. I using an EVDO MIFI 2200 from verizon for my internet service, i have the option to run it tethered via USB or i can run it wireless. If i run it wireless battery only good for couple hours, but i can run up to 5 computers off it at one time in the wireless mode, i prefer to run it tethered. Im trying to network the 2 computers together via lan on a home group, but they wont play nice together for some reason. I run troubleshooting on the client(32bit)and it comes up with invalid IP address, so i guess my question is what am i doing wrong.

Enable Internet connection sharing on the machine that has the mifi connected to it

    Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

Turns that machine into a router. Also sharing out the Internet for 5 machines on that device is gonna suck :-/

Im not planning on running 5 computers through it but its a heck of a lot faster than dialup.
Thanks GZ i'll give it a try, i might have the home group and private group all screwed up.

try resetting the router, works for me on occaision.

most model routers have a reset button on the back but if it doesn't just unplug the power cable wait about 20 seconds then plug it back in.

Truckpuller what ip address does the machine have?

Can you do like a crappy diagram of your network just to make sure we are on the same page? Please include all ip addresses and model numbers of any network devices such as switches.

    Thanks!

On the client the machine has the mifi connection, on the network card is the LAN card set to get an ip address automatically?

The Host or gateway machine has the mifi connected to it.

The client or the one im trying to connect does not have the "automatically detect settings" checked.
I had it checked at 1 time and didnt make no difference.( i think)

On both network cards for the primary machine and the client make sure the network csard is set to automatically detect settings before you enable ICS

I think i may have found the problem, if i go into my Local area connection properties and go to client for Microsoft Networks, it appears it's not installed and when i try to install it it ask for a disk and my upgrade disk doesnt appear to have it on there, sooo im looking for the drivers or what ever i need.

When i try to install them it keeps asking me for a disk...the windows 7 disk doesnt do it either. So im lost again as usual ...oh and i have to private networks that hook up to the MIFI....lol
