    Cisco 3560 VLAN configuration Issue

    Hello Everyone,

I am very new to switch configuration. I need help. I need to configure my network with a special VLAN. Following is the scenerio:

I have one 3560 switch with which I have got 1 Router, 1 Server, 1 Wireless Lan Controller (WLC -5505) & Switch from my existing network connected. Now I need to create a Vlan and impose it to 6 ports in 3560 switch. I need all my traffic flow goes via this Vlan from my existing network. I want to connect my server, WLC & switch from existing network with this Vlan.

I tried to do it but somehow when the Vlan is configured in the 3560 I could not ping the Server or the WLC from the devices within the same network. Then I removed the Vlan from the 3560 switch then I could ping and connect to the server remotely.

I need to create that Vlan in the 3560 switchports and connect my server, WLC & other switch in those ports. According to me I should be able to use VLan & connect to all my devices remotely but I have failed to do so. I have no idea now what I should do. Searched so many places but failed.

I will be very very grateful if anyone can help me with the configuration. Please advice me if I need to change configuration in my WLC as well.

    Eagerly waiting for a reply.

    Thanks

    Umme

    Umme,

Log onto cisco . com and search for support section, look around until you see a spot where you see maintenance and click until you can open a TAC case, They will contact you promptly. You'll need the SN on the 3560.

    Good luck,

Please post your entire config of your switch.

Also you can look up the configuration guide here:

Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series Switches Configuration Guides - Cisco Systems

Just pick the IOS that you have installed
