Internet Desktop and Laptop wont work together
Recent built a desktop. And hooked up and modem to it. It gets internet but the Laptops don't. When I shut off the desktop the laptops do get internet. What could be the problem? It works again if I hook the router and modem back to the old desktop.

So if I'm reading this right you have a modem connected to a router connected to two laptops and a desktop??

What router do you have and what time of internet connection do you have?

no the laptops are wireless, a belkin router and a scientific Atlanta modem

Does the laptops connect to the wireless and get an ip address from the router? please post the ipconfig /all of the machines that are having issues. What is the model number of your router?

Yes the laptops connect to the wireless and get an ip address if the Desktop is turned off.
ip config:
Ip address: 192.168.2.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.2.1
DHCP server: 192.168.2.1
DNS server: 192.168.2.1
68.87.71.230
68.87.73.246

please post an ip config when both machines are plugged into the router?
What do you have your DHCP Pool size set to on the router?
