After using dial-up for so long, and then being able to afford DSL with my roommates, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT CRUMMY, DISCONNECT-YOU-WHENEVER-THE-PHONE-LINES-FEEL-LIKE-IT SERVICE AGAIN!

Dial-up. DSL while available, has been a 6 month long nightmare....ending in Verizon disqualifying my line rather than FIXING *THEIR* problem. I can get RoadRunner now (well, that's what the local cable monopoly tells me), but they REQUIRE PAID installation ("Gee, why don't you train our techs ON YOUR TIME AND $$??") It's $120 plus $49.95/month. Real tempting since my phone line is poor (28.8-44k connections, 3-7k/s downloads )
What we need is a little healthy competition in the area....then again who'd want the 3rd largest GMA in PA?
That's my story. |

Heh, I'm NEVER going back to MSN/AOHell/ NetZero / EarthLink(I really did like EarthLink, it had beater speeds then all of my other Dial-Up ISP's...) |

First one--I never had dialup. My neighborhood was one of the first to get cable in my area, and I lagged some getting onto the net. |

I wish I could get something besides dial-up around here.

I have AT&T Cable... and while its not the greatest there is out there... and far from the best... but my friends near me have DSL, and I get better download speeds than they do. It's gotten a lot more reliable too... I used to get disconnected a lot, but lately I haven't... It took 14 days before AT&T disconnected me...
I think Comcast is gonna buyout AT&T or something like that... so I hope they'll raise the upload speed! |

I have DSL, used to have 56K but the dial-up speeds of NZ seemed like I was using a 28K modem. It was sad... and i can't possibly think about going back to dial-up. Broadband can't be beat for all kinds of stuff, including gaming . Without it I would die. Literally.

When we first got T3 access at work, I though that was the ultimate, but it really bogs down during the day. My cable is now much faster.
