Two routers on one network
Hi Guys,
Basically, my home is quite long and to ensure there is wireless internet at both ends of the house, I have two routers running. Router A is a Linksys WRT610N v2 (connected to the modem) and router B is a Netgear WNR834B v2 running dd-wrt.These two routers are connected through powerline whereby an Ethernet cable connects from the LAN port of router A to the powerline unit, and a cable runs from the other powerline unit to the WAN port of router B.
So far this works fine, there are two independent wireless networks that run, and I can jump between them when i move around the house. However the problem is that I cannot share files between devices on router A and router B. It seems there is an issue with communication of devices on A and B; however devices on either router still receive an internet connection.
So my question is, how do I set these routers up so that devices on them can communicate and share files? I don't wish to change anything around with the wireless, I'm happy with the two independent wireless signals. I have already tried disabling DHCP on router B but that then renders the device useless and any device connected to it is unable to identify the network.
I think that is all the information I can provide, but any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ryan

First on the netgear router disable the DHCP server. Assuming you are using the default subnet of the linksys you will want to also set the ip address of the netgear on the same subnet as the linksys. So the linksys is 192.168.1.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 you will want to set the netgear up with a 192.168.1.2 (two is just an example, make sure you dont have another machine on 192.168.1.2 before you do this) subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1. This will allow you to manage the netgear from any pc on your network.
On the netgear, take the network cable off the wan port and plug it into one of the LAN ports.
The reason why you cant access stuff on the netgear router is because the router is dropping the traffic. What you will be doing when you move to the LAN port on the netgear is making it a switch.

Okay, need a little more help. When accessing media from the computer connected via cable from router B, through to router A via wireless, there are no problems, works perfectly. However now their is an issue with the wireless access on router B. I can connect to it via wireless, however I get the message 'unidentified network, no internet access'. The wireless signal is different from router A, as in the ssid is different. Is there any way to fix this to get internet access (wireless) through router B and still be able to file share across routers?
Thanks!
(BTW, router B is in AP mode, and under advanced routing, the operating mode is 'gateway')

I assume you are using windows 7/vista on this machine that is getting the 'unidentified network, no internet access'
Can you surf the internet?
Can you do an ipconfig /all on the machine
go to start > run type cmd and a black box should pop up. type ipconfig /all in it and paste all the results

Yep using windows 7. I can use the internet when connected through ethernet, but not wireless from router B. Ipconfig got these results.

Looks like you have both network cables plugged in, if you are gonna use the wireless.
Also I asked for the ipconfig /all that will give us more information

Thanks for your help, however after screwing around with this thing for long enough I just decided to plug my laptop into the powerline instead of the router, and set up the router close by as a repeater, and its been working fine so far.
Anyway thanks for your help
