Something wrong with internet on boot-up

Most times when I boot my computer the internet does not work. If I reboot sometimes it will work or I might have to boot a couple times. I have no idea about what could be wrong. Seems like something dosen`t initialize. I`m using XP. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You

What kind of internet connection do you have? How are you plugged into the internet connection (router? directly in?)

I`m using a wireless router, but the computer I`m having trouble with is wired from the router. I have no issues with my tablet or cellphone.

When you bootup are you giving the machine PLENTY of time to finish booting?

I give it plenty of time. I also have a program called Steam that logs me in on start-up and if that dosen`t show in a minute or two I know theres a problem. If I try to connect to the internet it says internet explorer is not responding. Then if I reboot it usually boots up with no problems.

    Things to try:

Pull the power cord to the modem and router for five minutes (while the computer is off) and then plg em back in and turn the pc on.

    Uninstall/reinstall the eithernet card drivers.

Unplugging the router for five minutes or better seemed to do the trick. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.
