DSL goes in and out
I don't know if anyone is going to be able to help me with this, but I thought it couldn't hurt asking. We've had problems with our Verizon DSL going in and out every day until about 1pm. It's worse on the weekends and If we hear thunder forget about it, it's gone. We've had this problem since we moved in, 3 years ago. We had a tech come out to the house 2 or 3 times and they couldn't find a problem. We were told by the last tech that if we call again Verizon may just say that they can't provide service for us because we're on the edge of their service area. Has anyone ever heard of something like this before? It's really frustrating, but we've been dealing with it because our only other option is satellite.

I had problem like this too with Verizon... (cable service not dsl) They came out and replaced the cables in the attic with thicker ones due to all of the heat....
My service would be fine at night and in the mornings..till it got hot outside.Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...

Have you accessed the router page on the internet? You may be able to change the channel of the router to a better one... Try using this as a way of detecting a change in signal strength while changing the router channel: Xirrus: High Performance Wireless Networks - Wi-Fi Inspector

Yes,
DSL has a limited distance from the main terminal.
If you are on the edge of service, they shouldn't have sold you the service, in the first place.
They do it all the time though.
Old lines, will also kill DSL, and they won't do anything about that either.
My Dad, only attempt at high speed internet, was DSL, and it was slower than dial up, because he had a 50 year old under ground service.
The phone company would even check the problem, so he went back to dial up.
5 years later
Last month, his phone started calling 911, 2 or 3 times a night, so the phone company had to do something.
When they went into the manhole, they found that his line, was the only line on the street, that had not been upgraded.
This explained why DSL worked for everyone else on the street.
So the bottom line is, you are either too far from the terminal, or the lines are bad between you, and the terminal.
So good luck.
Their original response to my Dad was "have a nice day" with no attempt to fix it.
I have a friend that has a business out of his home, and he just kept calling them until they finally came out and replaced the lines.
But it took weeks, until finally the right service rep was sent out.
