    Can ***.***.1.2 share to ***.***.2.2, ***.***.0.1??

    Hi,

    One router...

    Two guest networks (plus main one).

    Have two PC's on each quest network, one on main.

    What I would like to do is share a media folder from main PC?

    A, B and C PC's on...

    a=10.0.1.1
    b=10.0.2.2
    c= 10.0.0.1

    So is there a way for any of those PC to see each other?

    Thanks for reading. (if am being slow just say)

    What router do you have?

    I am assuming its just a SOHO router, so what is happening is the clients are trying to connect to networks the router has no idea about. So when the client sends the request to the gateway, the gateway is like uhhhhhhhhhh and eventually comes back and says "I never got a response back" and just times out

    The router has no idea about the other subnets, normally a layer 3 router/switch allows communications between the different subnets. Something im sure the router you have cant do.

    Why dont you just have them all on the same network if you want to share media?

    Different networks seemed like an easy way of controlling access...

    One password for each network. Turn it off whenever needed.

    PC's have IPs, internet access ect...

    Forget to say the quest networks are wireless ones.

    Wired have main ip assigned. Then wireless laptops/phones (which I cant control, as in install software onto) have the other two networks.

    It would be nice to have a public folder where all three networks can share info?

    Wired_a=10.0.0.2
    Wireless_b=10.0.1.1
    Wireless_c=10.0.2.2

    So wired "a" has public folder for everyone to dip into when ever needed.

    If am having to look into the router set-up, what setting should I look for because you imply its possible with the right router.

    Without any type of L3 routing device, the different subnets will not talk to each other.

    Plan b will be formed over the weekend

    Thanks GroundZero3 for replying.

    Your other option, the computer with the share you put in two more network cards and assign those cards addresses on those different subnets. Its ugly, but its cheap and it works.

    They could be wireless network cards!

    Not pretty but might give it a go.

    Cheers, happy xmas to you.

    I've never messed with the guest accounts and how they share info but what about a router with a built in USB port that acts as a media/file server? I believe on those you can set permission based on each machine. The only problem might be that you'd be sharing the entire drive with each guest account rather than specific folders.
