    Connect 2 belkin routers F5D8233-4

Hi Everyone i am new to the forum.

I am a noob to networking and i need some help...well alot of help.

I have two belkin routers F5D8233-4.

I have one already connected downstairs to the isp's modem with a wireless network set up. it works fine.

I have bought a second one to connect to the first one so i can have it upstairs and and have wired connections upstairs.

How do i do this? i have been reading this thread Networking Two Belkin N Routers

but to be honest i keep getting lost.

Please can anyone help me? any help is much appreciated

    Sunny

First off how are you trying to do this wired from the first to the second or wirelessly? I'm kind of guessing you are trying to go wireless? If so I don't think those routers support it. You need something that supports WDS or that can work in bridge mode.

you could ring for ISP or help.. i had a lot of trouble with the Belkin routers always saying strict NAT type and then i bought a NETGEAR and that works wonders

Sorry but your ISP will only provide support for their service and devices they offer. They are not going to tell you how to bridge two routers

it is going to be a wired connection between the 2 routers. I have already installed an ethernet cable from downstairs to upstairs.

if its wired from the router to upstairs, and your trying to connect the upstairs systems to the network via wires, you just need a Switch for the upstairs PC's to connect to the router via wire.

or you could get a Wireless Access Point with Switch like this...

Newegg.com - EDIMAX EW-7228APn Wireless Range Extender / Access Point with 5 Port Switch

would allow you to connect all the upstairs units wirelessly to the network with out running cable down a level or so.

otherwise for an all wired network from 1st router, to upstairs all you need is a Switch.

Ok well the setup should be pretty easy then. Disable DHCP on the second router, connect the wire from the first to one of the 4 lan ports on the second and you should be good to go.

Essentially by doing this you are turning off the routing features and making the router into a switch.

Comcast offers a service to come out to the house and do it for you.

For a fee yes, and AFAIK they won't do phone support for anything other than the basics
