I did, I downloaded Malware bytes but it didn't help. I think i have it removed now though, I went into the Task Manager and ended the process. when i went to the control panel to uninstall it from my programs, it finally allowed me. It's still on my task bar though but it's no longer listed in my programs. I had also ran Hijack this and removed the suggested files but one file wouldn't delete. Any ideas on how to remove it from the Task bar? Thanks for all the help....

How I solved my babylon problem
Hope this helps someone somewhere.
(no luck) = I tried it and babylon still had firefox jacked)
RAn virus and spyware scans
uninstalled babylon. After it was gone (I thought) though,
my firefox browser was still highjacked.
I went to about:config searched for babylon
found and reset the values. But as soon as i restarted firefox they were back. (No luck)
I then did regedit, searched for and deleted all references to babylon. didnt work ( no luck
after some reading, I located the user.js file deleted it (no luck)
and ... then the pref.js file edited it and del all references to babylon (no luck)
the pref.js file was being overwritten back to b4 I edited it.
Then I noticed another script file in the same DIR bprotect.js hmmmm
so i viewed/edited it had the same contents with the babylon references as pref.js
so i deleted it along with another .JS file pref_temp i think it was called
reedited the pref.js file to remove the babylon stuff (no luck) X3 (no luck)
Next I searched for bprotector in windows didnt find any thing
Then after going round-and-round It occurred to me that even though show hidden files was
selected in file view mab not in windows search ....
It wasnt so i selected it searched again and found the bprotect
tried to delete it of course it would not.
Ok the obvious solution is to delete it in command mode
problem is there were several files assoc with it buried deep in the directory path
THAT's a lot of typeing
so i download FileASSASSIN went to the files tried to delete (no luck)
After toying with FileASSASSIN A while found a feature to delete on reboot
I one by one selected the files i wanted deleted and it would say "file added to your list ....."
Finished adding them all rebooted
then i went back to the pref.js file once again removed all the babylon crap
launched fire fox ..........(!!!!!!!LUCK!!!!!!!!!!)
BABYLON THE GREAT HAS FALLEN <----------cool bible pun LOL
Also the bprotect program is used in other highjack type malware as wellLast edited by EZMFE; June 23rd, 2012 at 05:38 AM.

No solution
I have tried every suggestion in this thread and also have used two malware programs. So far to no avail. Still trying.

Ridding your computer of "Babylon"
Easiest, safest way is to download Spybot Search & Destroy program, a program that rids your machine of malware, ads, etc. After you install it, pin it to your start menu, then right click to run as administrator. It will find the directory, registry and registry change. After the scan you will be able to remove it completely! I did it!
BTW, I think this piece of crap viral software comes in through the games on Facebook, so keep your computer on alert by running Spybot in the background.

babylon I STILL can't get rid of it!
any idea if the Norton scan I just did (that says my system is clean) actually helped? I did follow the directions you gave and when I first start firefox it goes to my correct homepage (yahoo) but shows up when I open additional pages. What should I expect to pay for a tech to remove this?

Help!
I followed the removal directions above and, while FireFox (my regular browser) opens the first tab at my home page (yahoo) subsequent pages are opened at Babylon. I ran a Norton scan hoping that would help....nothing. Now what? How much should I expect a tech to charge me to get rid of this junk?

& Manual Removal Guide for Babylon.Toolbar - Safer-Networking Forums which is a little more comprehensive, shows registry keys, etc. & doesn't look like an advertisement for Revo uninstaller (no offense).

Babylon removal
Hi Guy
I had the same problem I was getting frustated removing that Babylon search engine or whatever you want to call it.
Anyway, I've got windows 7 and use Chrome, although I have IE9.
I remove completely Babylone from my system through control panel > add/remove ... whatever
but when i what opening Chrome I could still see the bloody (sorry my french!) Babylone nutter. Then someone mentioned something about IE.
i then opened my IE9 when to tools > Manage add-ons then on manage Add-ons window I selected Search provider finally i found "BABYLONE's hidding there" I removed it "Et voila!"
It took me a week to find a solution i read so many posts.
I really hope it will help.
Also that possibly only happens on a Windows system not or Mac, Linux (I'm running Ubuntu12.04 and chrome is fine there) please don't ask me why may be i'm wrong but this is my conclusion.
Speak to you soon

Veoh web player
How many of you have updated the veoh web player recently? That's where I got babylon.
It's not a virus (at least this version wasn't) and it's fairly easy to get rid of.
1) Stop processes via task manager
2) Uninstall via Control Panel > Change/remove programs (XP); Programs > Installed programs (vista); Programs and Features (win7)
3) Change search engine in each browser and uninstall add-ons.Last edited by Fliks4U; August 18th, 2012 at 01:42 AM.
