Network Drive issue (Office Network)
Greetings.
I am not sure where to look after 6 hours of google, so I may as well start here.
I have a Laptop that connects to a wireless gateway setup by our IT.
It's DG is 10.2.250.179
Subnet of 255.255.255.0
I have my desktop office computer which connects to the Local Internet with a DG of 192.168.1.1
My problem is, I would like to access my laptop from my Desktop Office computer in order to use my Laptop as a network drive, so that I can access whatever files I need without cluttering up the Desktop PC (Don't think IT would appreciate an 11GB Game sitting on the HD)
I've tried this at home, which is a lot simpler. Data transfer speeds can keep up with the game since it's not that heavy in data transfer (MMO)
The only issue is, I cannot see any computers on our network. I would like to keep this on the LAN side of things so I don't have to rely on our Upstream, which will bog it down. If I can keep this on the LAN side, it will perform a lot better.
Would anyone have any suggestions on how to perform this?
Also, the Desktop is admin locked. I've got limited abilities.

Can the two subnets talk to each other? Without knowing the network, you might want to just talk to your IT staff and ask the question......
Or there is a reason why you arent asking them

He is trying to play games at work ... which is probably why he has no admin access and is locked out from doing anything "fun" while at work.
Short answer is no and as GZ said, ask your IT staff.
Since your trying to play a MMO while at work, i would probably refrain from doing that before your boss gets clued into what your doing while filling out your TPS reports... did you get the memo about the new TPS report cover sheet? Let me send that to you!

Actually it's quite the opposite. I am the supervisor, I just wanted to avoid having to request VPN access just to access shared folders on my laptop lol.
I can play whatever I like on my PC, but I didn't want to have an 11GB game sitting on my work PC lol.
Thanks anyway though.
